W.E. Walker Company was originally founded as a corporation in 1915 by William Earnest Walker. He was joined in the agency in 1949 by Maurice T Dunklin, who purchased the agency in 1961. Charles H. Brune joined the agency and Dunklin and Brune were co-owners until their retirement in 1986.

In 1980, Joe Stahly joined the agency as a producer and purchased the company in 1986 upon the retirement of Mr. Dunklin and Mr. Brune.

In 1992, M. Scott Stanfield was hired as a producer and Bill Talley brought his book of business to the agency as a producer. Talley's book of business was built over a span of 18 years as a local agent.

Lakenan Insurance Agency was formed in Perryville, MO in 1938 by William Lakenan. In 1960 Lakenan purchased the Gene Koppel Agency in Jackson, MO and Bill Williamson became manager.

The Lakenan Agency in Jackson, MO was purchased by Chad and Geneva Hartle in 1996. Doug Mueller was hired as the manager of the agency. In 2000, the Midland Agency, with locations in Cape Girardeau, MO and Jackson, MO was purchased by the Lakenan agency.

W.E. Walker-Lakenan, LLC was formed by way of a merger of the two companies in August, 2004. Joe Stahly and Chad Hartle are managing members and Bill Talley and Doug Mueller are members of the LLC. The agency currently operates in three locations, Cape Girardeau, MO, Jackson, MO, and Benton, MO; with a total of 19 employees, consisting of 9 producers and 10 administrative personnel.
